Before and After

Multi-use rooms are such a fun challenge. This one was already set up quite well, it just needed a little bit of sprucing. Mail was sorted by importance, papers were organized to be filed and office supplies were consolidated. On the sewing side, drawers were utilized for easy-to-reach tools that get used most often. Many items ended up in the closet, which already had clearly labeled bins for all of the sewing notions- love to see it!

This cute barnyard-style roof kept things interesting when designing storage systems to work well in the space. We started with the bookshelf before entering the storage room, and optimized space by adding shelves and stacking books vertically. We installed an Ikea counter in the storage room to hold seasonal decor and memorabilia. The clothes were moved close to the window and in line of sight when standing at the door. We then added a chest of drawers for more off-season clothing storage. The cat boxes got their own little section, tucked away out of sight. The closet has a curtain door for ease of access and the suitcases are aligned and ready to go for travel. The seafoam guest room has linens in containers under the bed and in the closet, which is also covered by a curtain. We hung some art and added a TV stand for added feng shui.

This was a multi- room project that included the pantry, fridge and bedroom dresser. The pantry had tall, deep shelves so a hanging shelf for supplements, canned food holder and Lazy Susan's came in handy. Wire bins were used for power bars, and other on the go snacks. This provided for ease of access and you could easily see what you have. The clients had many types of drinks in the fridge, so those were put front and center. Everything else was organized by category and optimal fridge placement. Lastly, the drawers were organized using Marie Kondo's "file folding" method. This way, you can see all of your options at once!

This cute home office just needed the papers to be sorted, the cords organized and deticated homes for additional items such as clothes, purses and books. The clothes went to the bedroom, the purses on a hook on the outside of the door, and the books on the shelf to the right. This was a single day project without any additional products added- proof that you can organize without buying more stuff! :)

Here we have before and after pictures of the back room of a yoga studio. The cleaning supplies got moved close to the laundry machines to keep them together. I installed a wall rack to keep the mops and brooms from resting on the ground and made space for the mop bucket to live when not in use. Cubes were added to the wire shelves to store holiday decor, backstock and office supplies. I also put up a shelf for the lightbulbs, allowing more storage on the top of the rack. Now, items are grouped by type so everyone can easily find things.

This project was for a classroom that also acted as a storage room for a non-profit. They offered sports, arts and crafts, games, music production, cooking, and 3-D printing. I started by determining which section belonged to which activity. I then organized the supplies within each activity by category, separating them into appropriate bins. This project took about 8 hours total. Note that these are only after pictures since I forgot to take before pics- I just had to dive right in!
